Missions
Community Covenant's involvement in missions and evangelism is part of our obedience to Christ who commanded us to "go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20). It is our desire to bring the Gospel to all mankind that they might be saved (John 3:16), and therefore we must participate in the work of proclamation. We also affirm that missions and evangelism are works of ministering to the totality of human need (Luke 4:18-19).
This ministry is coordinated by a member of the Church Council and the Missions and Evangelism committee. The Committee arranges programs for missions awareness, coordinates the missions budget and fosters evangelism both in our congregation and in our surrounding communities.
We contribute to the support of "Covenant World Missions" through our denominational support share. Our own local congregation also has a missions budget, which derives its income from the church's general fund and from the Faith Promise giving. Individuals who wish to give directly to the mission fund can do so through Faith Promise giving.
World missions is defined as any ministry extending beyond our congregation and our church facilities, the purpose of which is evangelism, discipling, planting churches, and aiding in their growth and development either beyond our borders or in various subcultures in the USA.
Currently, through our local missions budget, we are supporting 16 missionaries or missionary organizations on a monthly basis. Our total monthly support exceeds $2,000.
